Another Great BCKC Tournament Saturday 12th June saw the return of korfball to Cotham Park Rubgy Club meaning only one thing - the 2010 Bristol City KC tournament.
With a whole host of clubs from Manchester to Exeter, Cardiff to Norwich this tournament was the biggest ever and with the weather forecast fair all was set for a great day of korfing. It didn't disappoint.
Both BCKC teams played well throughout the day, with Nick and Rich teaming up well in attack for BCKC 1 and Dave chasing around the pitch like a terrier after loose balls! Mid table finishes for both teams is testament to how well we played against good quality opposition whilst worrying about things like making sandwiches and wondering why the people on the next pitch hadn't started their matches yet!
Bristol City welcomed back Jim from New Zealand, confusing everyone by bringing with him another Sarah Jennings. We also saw a glimpses of the future Bristol City youth team with both Pippa and Sarah B coming to say hello with Charlie and Cara and Eleanor respectively.
The final was between reigning champs, Cardiff City and challengers Norwich Ice. After a close and hard fought match, reffed superbly by our very own Ian, Norwich came out on top, ending Cardiff's monopoly on the cider flaggon. I think Ice may also have won the Macarana dance off, probably the prize they most value...
With the games over, the BBQs were lit, TV tuned to the World Cup and the iPod playlist set to cheese! A good night was had by all (except Robert Green!) and the merriment continued long in to the night.
Big thanks have to go to Beth for organising another successful tournament, to everyone who helped out with the catering throughout the day, Bryan for being a red van man and especially to Hero Steve (as he shall be known from this day forth!) who came for a bit to catch up with everyone and ended up on the desk all day!! Most of all though big thanks to everyone who came and supported the BCKC tournament 2010 and made it such a success. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and look forward to welcoming you all again next year.
